I’ve Moved To Paris For A Year!

I have an explanation (in the form of a blog post, of course) as to why I’ve been so absent over the last few weeks… I’ve moved to Paris!

It’s been a decision in the works for a very long time, but I decided that as I’ve never properly been travelling or lived abroad, I would do a year of being an ‘au pair’ in France; basically I’m living with a host family in Paris as well as looking after their – very sweet – little girl.

I’ve done it this way so that I can have a job with enough time to explore, write and make friends, as well as having enough money to get by.

So far I’ve seen most of the amazing sights (and still discovering more, like a cute English bookshop yesterday), have made some new friends, and have been trying my hardest to learn a bit of French, though I’m still pretty awful. I’m insanely excited to be spending the next year in the City of Light, and although it was hard to leave my steady job, friends and family behind, I’m really happy to finally be doing some travelling!

Here are a few photos from my first two weeks in Paris, I hope you like them, and I hope to be cooking loads of delicious vegan French food over the next year!

If anyone has any suggestions of where I should go, or what I should cook while I’m here, please do let me know in the comments section.

Au revoir :)

To get you into the Parisian mood after reading this post, why not try making my vegan croissants?

  4. Well done Emily! Travel does indeed broaden the mind so enjoy. I love Paris and being on top of the Eiffel Tower is mind-blowing! You might like Montparnasse cemetery where Jean-Paul Sartre and Samuel Beckett are buried.
