Spicy Guacamole and Garlic Paprika Tortilla Chips

This week I decided that I would have a lazy weekend, and sit back on the sofa to watch the Olympics (and, of course, read the whole of the new Harry Potter book in one sitting).

It’s been a pretty hectic week, and sometimes there’s nothing better than sitting back in a blanket on the sofa and just switching off for an afternoon. And one of the best parts of a lazy duvet day is the lazy duvet snacks!

I love guacamole, and I’ve been making my own homemade guac for a while now without ever posting it on here, so I thought I would make a big batch of it with some really easy hot tortilla chips!

Obviously if you prefer a milder spice you don’t have to add as much chilli, but paprika is quite mild, so even people with sensitive palates will still enjoy the chips without blowing their head off with spice.

Hope you enjoy them, and hope you’re enjoying watching the Olympics… Let me know your favourite events in the comments below!

Tortillas and Guacamole

Tortillas and Guacamole

For the guacamole

One whole avocado

Juice of quarter of a lime

Two cherry tomatoes

Half a small red chilli

One teaspoon of olive oil

Small handful of fresh coriander

For the tortilla chips

Two plain tortillas

Two cloves of garlic

Around a tablespoon of paprika

One tablespoon of olive oil

  1. To make the guacamole, mash the avocado with a fork, chop all of the other ingredients and mix them all together into a creamy consistency.
  2. Fry the garlic in the olive oil until golden. Cut the tortillas into quarters and fry them in batches until warm and golden. Sprinkle the chips with paprika.
  3. Serve by dipping the tortillas into the guacamole.
