I’ve been experimenting with hemp… Urm, not what you think!
My friend suggested that I start using protein powders in smoothies recently, she’s also a veggie and she’s been using it to boost her protein levels, so I bought some and thought I’d give it a go. I got some hemp protein powder as apparently it’s the most natural, saintly, mineral-packed protein out there, and made a smoothie with it for breakfast this morning (though unlike some other recipes I’ve seen out there, I thought I’d sweeten mine up with some honey – the sweet tooth never dies!)
Not going to lie, the taste might take a little while to get used to! Because of the banana and honey I’ve used it was nicely sweet, but it was a little “grassy” tasting… I did instantly feel much healthier though, and hopefully the extra protein will give me a boost while I’m running, so hopefully it’ll be something worth sticking to!
Have you guys come across any great hemp powder recipes? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
One small banana
One cup (250ml) of soy or almond milk – I used almond milk
Two tablespoons of hemp protein powder
Quarter of a teaspoon of cinnamon
Two teaspoons of runny honey
- Blend everything together, pour and drink!
