Halloumi Salad

Apologies for the non-vegan recipe this week, but I’ve had such a craving for halloumi cheese recently, and I thought the craving must be satisfied! As most of you know, I am 90% vegan, I do try really hard to stick to it, as I do support the ethical reasons for being a vegan, however if I have a craving for something dairy I will satisfy that craving, because I don’t believe in depriving yourself of the things you want :) Obviously I’m completely and totally vegetarian, but I do occasionally eat dairy foods when I feel like it or it’s cheaper – sorry! I hope you like the recipe though, it’s so yummy, and obviously if you’re not a vegan, then that’s fine! I’ve grilled substitutes like tofu before and that’s been really nice, so if you are a vegan, I guess grilled tofu would taste nice with this recipe as well…

I love recipes like this now that there’s a little bit of Spring in the air, salad’s so fresh and light, and the cheese with it’s really salty and has so much flavour – I’ve used up my whole packet of halloumi now though, but I definitely want to make it in the future, as eating things like this make me feel so full of energy and all clean on the inside! I’ve had a few really lovely messages from my friends at home as well today, so I’m in a really cheerful mood, funny how one meal can make you feel so uplifted :)

Hope you like it, sorry again to my vegan fans, but halloumi is my one non-vegan weak point!

  1. I don’t think I’ve had Halloumi either, but you make it sound delicious! And I totally agree with satisfying cravings despite labels (“vegan”) you may normally fall under. Though I’m a happy vegan/ vegetarian most of the time, I found myself seriously craving chinese chicken when some friends went out to eat. It was the weirdest thing, but I honored the craving and the world didn’t end. I think the bit of diversity keeps your body from totally forgetting how to digest things like dairy or meat. Anyways, thanks for the recommendation and recipe!

  2. This looks delicious! I’ve NEVER had Halloumi, but have just added it to the grocery list!!! We were planning on grilling some Tofurkey sausages and pineapple, I think this would be the perfect complement on the grill! :D
